The
Oban distillery is currently making much fame as the "West Highland"
representative in the Classic Malts series of Diageo. The distillery itself
unfortunately does not allow visitors to photograph inside, and from the harbor
you can just see the top of the buildings rising above buildings in front, as
seen here on the left. Hence this slightly different view from McCaig's Tower,
a monument build in the 19th century which was meant to become a art gallery,
but was unfinished because of money shortages.
You can clearly identify the location of Oban distillery by the red chimney
halfway the panorama. In the bay you can see the Calmac ferry sailing off to
the Isle of Mull. From this point of view you can navigate to Dunollie
Castle, or go down to the Harbor.
