Port
Charlotte is a small idyllic village on the coast of Loch Indaal. It used to
have two working distilleries. One called Octomore, and the other called Loch
Indaal, featured in this VR Distillery tour. The buildings you see above are
the building that are still remaining on the shore. The large white building
is currently in use as a youth hostel, and houses the Islay Wildlife centre
as well.
Behind the village some more warehouses have survived, as you can see on the
photo to the left. They are currently in use by Bruichladdich to mature their
Port Charlotte and Octomore malts.
