In Fort William we can find three distilleries, of which only one is still operational which is Ben Nevis. The other two, despite not being in use as a distillery, can still be seen as the buildings have been converted for other use.
The one closest to the town center is the one you see here above, Glenlochy. It started operation in 1898 and after a series of silent periods finally went silent in the early 80's.
Despite plans to demolish the buildings parts have been converted to a guesthouse, and at the time of our visitting convertion still took place at the former maltings and kilns.
