Dailuaine
is one of those distillers you need someone who can pronounce the Gaelic
name for you, as it is impossible to pronounce it right otherwise!
The distillery is one of the lesser known distilleries. It is however
greatly appreciated with those 'in the know' as its quality rarely lets
you down.
It once also had its own stop on the Speyside railway, now dismantled
and made into the 'Speyside Way' foothpath. On the photo left you can
see what is left today of its stop.
Dailuaine is also significant as it is the first distillery that uses
the now widely seen specific kiln shape. It was designed and built in
1889 by Charles Doig, a well known distillery designer. The kiln was sadly
destroyed in 1917 by fire.
